RICHMOND, Ky. – The Ohio women's golf team opened play at the 2018 Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky at the 5,815-yard University Club at Arlington Golf Course. After one round of play, the Bobcats sit in sixth-place after shooting a first round score of 303 (+15). Due to course conditions, the tournament has been shortened to 36-holes, with the first round played today, with the second and final round set for Saturday (March 31).
Western Kentucky leads the pack after a first round score of 297 (+9).
Leading Ohio is freshman Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) who sits tied for 15thplace after opening the tournament with a first round score of 75 (+3), Sophomore Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) is also tied for 15thplace after also shooting a first round score of 75 (+3).
Senior Lily Pendy (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) is currently tied for 22ndplace after finishing the first round with a score of 76 (+4). Junior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) currently sits tied for 29thplace after shooting a 77, putting her five-over for the day.
Rounding out the scoring Bobcats is junior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) who finished the day with a 79 (+7), placing her tied for 46th.
Competing unattached for Ohio was junior Chloe McKinzie (Medina, Ohio)who would shoot a first round score of 80 (+8), tying her for 59thplace after the first day.
The Bobcats will wrap up play at the 2018 Colonel Classic on Saturday, March 31, with the second and final round set to begin at 9 a.m.
