NORMAL, Ill. –The Ohio women's golf team opened up the 2018 season on Sunday (Sept. 9) at the 2018 Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State at the 5,983-yard Weibring Golf Club. The Bobcats sit in eighth place after the first two rounds, shooting a 310 in the first round and a 312 in round two, giving them a day one total of 622 (+46).
Northern Illinois currently sits in first place after day one, posting a two-round total of 583 (+7).
Leading Ohio after the first two rounds is freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.), who is currently tied for 14thplace. Loftus opened the day with a 72, and then followed that up with an 81 later in the day, giving her a two-round total of 153 (+9).
Next is senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio), who currently sits tied for 17thplace after shooting a first round total of 79. Hughes then came back later in the day to record a 75, giving her a day one total of 154 (+10). Fellow senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) wrapped up the first two rounds at the Redbird Invitational tied for 23rdplace, after shooting a 79 and 76, respectively, giving her a two-round total of 155 (+11).
Junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.), currently sits tied for 47thplace after shooting an 80 in both of her rounds on Sunday, giving her a day one total of 160 (+16).
Rounding out the scoring Bobcats is freshman Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio), who shot an 82 in the morning round and came back to finish her day by with an 84, giving her a total of 166 (+22), and tying her for 66thplace.
Playing unattached for the Bobcats is sophomore Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) who is currently tied for 52ndplace after shooting a first round score of 80, and then wrapped up her day with an 81, giving her a two-round total of 161 (+17).
