YORKTOWN, Ind. –The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2018 Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State, at the 6,204-yard course at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind. on Tuesday (Sept. 18). The Bobcats finished the tournament in ninth place after shooting a 303, giving Ohio a three-round total of 924 (+60).
The University of Indianapolis concluded the tournament as repeat champions, finishing the 54-hold event, +2.
Leading the way for Ohio was senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio), who entered the day tied for 25thplace. Hughes would then put together her best round of season so far, finishing the day with a season-low 70. Her score helped Hughes finish the tournament with a three-round total of 223 (+7) and tying her for eighth place.
Senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) finished the third round by shooting a 76, helping her finish the tournament with a 54-hole total of 225 (+9) and tying her for 15thplace. Junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) finished the tournament tied for 64thplace, after finishing the third round with a 78, giving her a two-day total of 240 (+24).
Freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) wrapped up the Cardinal Classic tied for 64thplace, after recording an 83 in the third round, giving her a tournament total of 240 (+24).
Rounding out the scoring for the Bobcats was senior Hannah Travis (Lancaster, Ohio) who finished in 84thplace. Travis finished Tuesday with a 79, giving her a three-round score of 252 (+36).
Up next, the Bobcats have a quick turnaround, as they head to State College, Pa. for the 2018 Nittany Lion Invitational hosted by Penn State, Sept. 22-23.
