RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Ohio women's golf team began play at the weather-shortened 2019 Rio Verde Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan at the 6,075- yard Quail Run Golf Course, on Saturday (Feb. 23). After the first 18 holes of play, the Bobcats sit in 15thplace after shooting a 313 (+29) in their first round of action.
Arkansas State currently sits in first-place after finishing the day with a 297 (+13).
Leading Ohio is senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio), who currently sits tied for 36thplace after shooting a first round score of 77 (+6). Also leading the Bobcats is junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) who finished Saturday's round with a 77 (+6), also tying her for 36thplace.
Freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) finished the day tied for 55thplace after a first round score of 79 (+8). Senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) currently sits tied for 66thplace, finishing the round +9 after tallying a first round score of 80.
Rounding out the scoring Bobcats for Ohio is senior Chloe McKinzie (Medina, Ohio), who shot a first round score of 83 (+12), sitting her tied for 84thplace entering the final round on Sunday.
Competing unattached for Ohio is freshman Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio), who finished the day tied for 66thplace, after a registering a first round score of 80 (+9).
