RICHMOND, Ky. –The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up day one at the 2019 Lady Colonel Classic, hosted by Eastern Kentucky, on Friday (March 29) at the 5,885 University Club at Arlington. After the first two rounds, the Bobcats sit in 4th place after shooting a first-round score of 299, before finishing the day with a second-round score of 302, giving them a two-round total of 601 (+25). Eastern Kentucky finished the day at the head of the pack after shooting a 584 (+8) to finish the day.
Senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) leads the Bobcats after day one. Smiley opened the day with a 72, before wrapping up with a personal best second-round score of 69, giving her a day one total of 141 (-3), placing her tied for 2nd entering Saturday's final round. Next is senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) who finished Friday tied for 17th place after shooting a first-round score of 76, before shooting a 74 in round two for a two-round score of 150 (+6).
Freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) is next, finishing the first day tied for 19th place. Loftus registered a score of 73 in the first round, before shooting a 78 in the second round, giving her a day one total of 151 (+7).
Junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) finished Friday tied for 60th place. Balish shot a 78 in her first round, before registering an 82 in the second round, giving her a total of 160 (+16). Rounding out the scoring Bobcats was senior Chloe McKinzie (Medina, Ohio), who finished Friday tied for 68th place. McKinzie opened the day's rounds with an 81, before coming back and registering an 81 in the second round, giving her a two-round total of 162 (+18).
Playing unattached for Ohio was freshman Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio) who finished the day tied for 59th place. Porvasnik opened the day with a 79, before shooting an 81 in the second round, giving her a day one total score of 158 (+16).
The Bobcats wrap up play at the 2019 Lady Colonel Classic on Saturday, March 30. Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
