HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – Redshirt senior Cullen Cummings (Woodridge, Ill.) and redshirt junior Zack Parker (Felton, Del.) led the way for Ohio in their respective classes in the 55th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships (Dec. 29-30).
Parker would start the tournament ranked 10th in the 285 class, facing Princeton's Christia Araneo. Parker would earn a 6-1 decision victory over Araneo to move on to the next round. Parker would then face Butterbrod in the round where he would secure a 5-3 decision win to move on to the quarterfinals. He would then face second-seeded Sam Stoll of Iowa, where he would suffer a 5-3 decision loss.
Cummings would start the tournament with byes in his first two rounds. In the third round, Cummings would suffer a major decision loss to second-seeded Joshua Shields of Arizona State, 18-2.
The Bobcats are back in Athens on Friday (Jan. 5) against Eastern Michigan. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
