Columbus, Ohio – Ohio track and field returns to Athens after a weekend competing against in-state rival, Ohio State, at the 2018 Jesse Owens Classic where senior Ellen Isaac recorded a win for Ohio in the 5K.
In the 100m dash, freshman Abby Summers (Powell, Ohio) finished first for Ohio with a final time of 12.71 to place 26th overall. Summers also finished first for the 'Cats in the 200m dash with a time of 25.47.
Sophomore Marissa Handel (Highland Heights, Ohio) recorded a 400m dash time of 57.08 to place 14th overall.
In the 800m dash, junior Emily Deering (Geneva, Ohio) placed in the top-10 with a final time of 2:10.45.
In the 1500m, sophomore Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) was the first finisher for the 'Cats with a final time of 4:37.77.
Senior Ellen Isaac (Mansfield, Ohio) secured the win in the 5K with a final time of 17:16.39.
In the 100m hurdles, Mya Hodge (Dublin, Ohio) placed 10th with a final time of 14.57.
In the shot put championships, senior Jordan Porter (South Point, Ohio) placed fifth with a best throw of 15.49m.
In the discus throw, junior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) recorded a throw of 45.09m to place 12th. The junior went on to place second in the hammer throw with a throw of 54.85m.
In the javelin throw, senior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) placed fifth overall with a throw reaching 43.97m.
The Bobcats will next compete at the Hillsdale Gina Relays (April 27-28) and Redhawk Invitational (April 28).
