JACKSONVIILLE, Fla. -- Redshirt junior Ashleigh Carr (Oakland, Neb.), junior Tajah Haley (Washington, Pa.) and senior Gaza Odunaiya (Athens, Ohio) of the Ohio track & field team are in Jacksonville, Fla., this weekend (May 23-25) to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships East Preliminary Round.
Carr qualified for the 400-meter hurdles prelims with a time of 59.34. Haley qualified for the javelin throw prelims with a toss of 47.34 meters. Odunaiya qualified for the hammer throw prelims with a toss of 60.22 meters.
The first rounds of the javelin (12 p.m. ET), hammer (4 p.m. ET) and 400 hurdles (4:30 p.m. ET) will all take place on Thursday (May 23).
At the 2019 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 9-11) in Muncie, Ind., both Odunaiya and Haley garnered Second Team All-MAC honors. Odunaiya claimed second in the hammer thanks to a school-record toss of 60.22 meters while Haley recorded a career-best throw of 47.34 meters to take second place in the javelin.
