MUNCIE, Ind -- The Ohio volleyball team (8-12, 3-4 MAC) suffered a 3-1 (25-20, 28-26, 20-25, 25-18) defeat to Mid-American Conference West Division foe Ball State (15-5, 6-1 MAC) this evening at Worthen Arena.

"Although I was impressed with the fight our team displayed in difficult situations tonight, we didn't pass or communicate at the level we needed to be successful against a very good Ball State team," said fifth-year head coach Deane Webb.

Redshirt Senior outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) led the team with 17 kills and five service aces for the Bobcats. Followed closely behind was junior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Dallas, Texas) who registered 16 kills and contributed eight digs for the Bobcats. Redshirt senior right-side hitter Katie Nelson (Regina, Saskatchewan) and sophomore middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) alongside Kosiorek all led the team with three blocks apiece. Sophomore setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) distributed a team-high 45 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Macy Reihing (Lexington, Ky.) recorded a match-high 25 digs while junior defensive specialist/libero Meredith Howe (Grand Rapids, Mich) chipped in 10 digs for Ohio.

Senior outside hitter Ellie Dunn recorded a match-high 19 kills while compiling 15 digs to register a double-double for the Cardinals. Junior middle blocker Sydnee Vanbeek and freshman right-side hitter/middle blocker hitter Reece Kral both added eight kills. Vanbeek also led Ball State with a match-high seven blocks followed closely behind by redshirt senior middle blocker Meg Starling who tallied six blocks. Junior setter Amber Seaman recorded a match-high 46 assists and chipped in five blocks for the Cardinals. Freshman defensive specialist Cathryn Starck and junior defensive specialist Kate Avila both compiled a team-high 16 digs for Ball State. 

Ohio closes out its fourth weekend of MAC West play by traveling to Savage Arena to take on Toledo tomorrow, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. This match will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
