Ohio Volleyball Suffers Tough Loss To Toledo In Five Sets

TOLEDO, Ohio --
 The Ohio volleyball team (8-13, 3-5 MAC) rallied from a 2-1 match deficit to force a fifth set but ultimately fell to Mid-American Conference West Division foe Toledo (8-11, 3-5 MAC), 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 14-25, 15-12), tonight at Savage Arena.

Junior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Dallas, Texas) tied her career high with 23 kills to lead the match. Redshirt senior outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) recorded a double-double with 15 kills and a season-high 14 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) hit .500 with 15 kills and led the match with four total blocks (two solo, two assisted). Sophomore setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) also posted a double-double with a season-high 59 assists to lead the match and go along with 11 digs. Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Macy Reihing (Lexington, Ky.) led the match with 28 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter/middle hitter Chloee Kleespies led Toledo with 18 kills and hit .308 for the match. Junior middle hitter Zoe Birnbrich tallied 15 kills. Senior libero/defensive specialist Andrea Stephenson tallied a match-high three service aces and added 10 digs. Senior setter/right side hitter Carly Townsend led the Rockets with 51 assists. Senior defensive specialist/libero Maurissa Leonard compiled a team-high 26 digs for the Rockets.

Ohio returns to the Convocation Center next weekend, playing host to Western Michigan next Friday (Oct. 19) at 7 p.m. and Northern Illinois on Saturday (Oct. 20) at 6 p.m.
