ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams pack their bags and head to Lexington, Ky. to compete in the first meet of the 2017 season, the Bluegrass Invitational, hosted by Kentucky. The men's 8K race will begin promptly at 9:30 am while the women will begin their 5K at 10:10 am and will be held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.
The Bobcats look forward to facing the Wildcats of Kentucky along with Bellarmine (men's team only), Eastern Kentucky, IPFW and Xavier in the collegiate contest.

The Bobcats return a total of 23 runners and were picked to finish fifth on the men's side and ninth on the women's in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released last week.
The men finished fourth in the 2016 MAC Championships last season with now senior Brad Miller (Bellbrook, Ohio) in 20th place with a 26:03.3 time.
The Bobcat men's lineup returns 12 individuals including seniors Matt Evans (Mentor, Ohio), James Fox (Lancaster, Ohio), Miller and Adam Wise (Lancaster, Ohio)
Ohio welcomes sophomore transfer, Connor Parrell (Brighton, Mich), and four freshmen, Matthew Agosta (Circleville, Ohio), Seth Gard (Eaton, Ohio), John Jaynes (Canal Winchester, Ohio) and Andy Mayse (Sidney, Ohio).
The women's team finished ninth at the 2016 MAC Championships led by then now junior, Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio). Atkinson finished with a time of 22:09.1 to place 26th overall.
The Bobcats return three seniors in their 18-person roster, Ellen Isaac (Mansfield, Ohio), Mary Richardson (Newark, Ohio), Christina Seas (Coldwater, Ohio) and welcome senior transfer Shannon Kilbane (Lakewood, Ohio).
Ohio also welcomes six new freshmen to the team including Melissa Barrett (Englewood, Ohio), Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Tate Dawson (Doylestown, Pa.), Meredith Elstun (Fairfield, Ohio), Katherine Gerber (Perrysburg, Ohio) and Jessica Hartman (Lebanon, Ohio).
Both the men and women's teams will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite on Friday, Sept. 15. The women's race is set to begin at 5 p.m. E.T. with the men's race to follow at 6.
