OXFORD, Ohio – The Ohio women's cross country team placed eighth out of 12 teams at the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships 6K on Saturday (Oct. 28) in Oxford, Ohio. All five scorers finished in the top-50 to take their team score to total 182 points.
For the third year in a row, Eastern Michigan has claimed the MAC title by scoring a total of 45 points. Toledo placed second overall with a total of 99 points followed by the host, Miami (115), Northern Illinois (125), Buffalo (137), Central Michigan (149), Western Michigan (164), and Ohio (182). Trailing the Bobcats was Bowling Green (189), Akron (262), Ball State (276), and Kent State (307).
Ohio was led by senior Ellen Isacc (Mansfield, Ohio) in 22nd place with a time of 21:45.7.
Isaac was followed shortly after by a pack of Bobcats including junior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) and sophomores Abby Miller (Mansfield, Ohio) and Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio). Atkinson crossed the line in 22:13.1 to place 37th, Miller in 22:16.7 to place 38th, and Sury in 22:17.0 to place 39th.
Junior Emily Deering wrapped up the scoring five by running a time of 22:25.4 to place 46th out of over 100 runners.
This race marks new personal bests for Deering and sophomore Tiffany Hill (Dublin, Ohio).
