ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Director of Athletics Jim Schaus announced Thursday that work had begun in the Convocation Center to install a new, state of the art, center-hung videoboard.
The project, which was entirely funded by intercollegiate athletics, is set for completion prior to the start of the 2018 fall semester.
"As part of our 50th anniversary celebration of the Convocation Center, we are excited to be able to install a new, state-of-the-art, center-hung videoboard which will serve our teams competing in the Convocation Center beginning this fall," said Schaus. "It will significantly enhance the entertainment experience at our games and in all university and community events at the Convo. Our fans and all attendees for outside events will love it!"
The center-hung Mitsubishi video board is being installed by ANC. The four-sided display will be 11' high and 21' wide on the sides while the end line screens will measure 9' by 14'.
Work is already underway to begin reinforcing the Convocation Center roof to hold the display. The screens are expected to be operational in mid-August.
The inclusion of a new video board is expected to enhance the fan experience and entertainment value at the Convocation Center for years to come.
