ATHENS, Ohio -- It's Homecoming Week in Athens, and Ohio Athletics has a number of events that you can attend while in town this weekend, including the football team (2-3, 1-0 MAC) returning to Peden Stadium to take on Mid-American Conference West Division foe Northern Illinois (1-4, 0-1 MAC) on Saturday (Oct. 12) at 3:30 p.m. ET at Peden Stadium.
Fans still looking to buy tickets for football's Homecoming tilt against the Huskies can do so here. For fans who are unable to make it to Peden Stadium, Saturday's contest will be streamed live on ESPN+, with Doug Sherman and John Gregory on the call.The game can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 12th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats." Ohio Alum Rob Cornelius has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station network's flagship. The broadcasts are also available online through TuneIn.com/OhioBobcats and on the TuneIn app.
The weekend begins on Thursday (Oct. 10) when the soccer team (7-5, 2-2 MAC) continues Mid-American Conference play when it heads to Akron, Ohio to take on Akron (5-7, 2-2 MAC) at 7 p.m. ET at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field. Soccer wraps up the weekend back in Athens on Sunday (Oct. 13) as it hosts Buffalo (4-6-1, 1-3 MAC) at 1 p.m. ET at Chessa Field. The game will be the Bobcats' annual Pink Game, so wear your favorite pink and help support the fight against Breast Cancer. Admission to all home soccer games is FREE.
The field Hockey team (5-4, 2-1 MAC) is back in action on Friday when they head to Lansing, Mich. to take on Michigan State (5-6, 0-4 Big 10) at 3 p.m. ET at Ralph Young Field. The Bobcats wrap up the weekend in Mount Pleasant, Mich. on Sunday when they continue MAC play at Central Michigan (2-10, 0-3 MAC). First touch is set for noon ET.
The Ohio swimming & diving team returns to the pool for its annual Green & White Meet on Friday. The meet is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET at the Ohio University Aquatics Center.
The volleyball team (10-7, 2-2 MAC) is back on the court on Friday as well when it heads to Akron, Ohio for a matchup with the Zips (11-4, 4-0 MAC). Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET at James A. Rhodes Arena. Volleyball concludes the weekend on Saturday in Amherst. N.Y. when it takes on Buffalo (5-11, 1-3 MAC) inside Alumni Arena at 6 p.m.
The women's golf team concludes its 2019 fall season at the 2019 Flyer Invitational, which will be held Oct. 14-15. The 54-hole event will take place in Kettering, Ohio at the NCR Golf Club.
The men's golf team is also back in action Oct. 14-15 at the 2019 Phoenix Intercollegiate at the Alamanca Country Club in Burlington, N.C.

SUNDAY PROMOTION: Pink Game
The Ohio soccer team (7-5-0, 2-2-0 MAC) continues Mid-American Conference play this weekend starting on Thursday, Oct. 10 when they head to Akron, Ohio to take on the Zips (5-7-0, 2-2-0 MAC). First touch is set for 7 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field. Ohio will then return to Athens on Sunday, Oct. 13 for the first game of a three-game homestand when they host Buffalo (4-6-1, 1-3-0 MAC). The Bobcats and the Bulls are set to begin at 1 p.m. This year's match between Ohio and Buffalo will serve as the Bobcats' annual Pink Game.
Ohio is coming off of a 1-1 weekend during MAC play, with a win against Toldeo, 4-0, on Friday, before falling to Bowling Green, 3-1, on Sunday.
Akron enters the matchup with the Bobcats with a 5-7-0 overall record and an 2-2 mark in MAC play. The Zips are currently on a one-game winning streak which includes a victory against Miami. This season, Akron has scored 11 goals, while allowing 12 goals against. The Zips have also recorded 116 shots, with 52 of them on goal for a .448 shots on goal percentage.
Individually, Ashley Amato leads Akron with three goals and six points, while Sydney Worthy is second on the team with five points, recording two goals and one assist. In net, Libby Parker has seen the most action, playing in 12 games while allowing eight goals and making 20 saves in 847 minutes on the pitch.
Buffalo enters the matchup with the Bobcats with a 4-6-1 overall record and a 1-3 mark in MAC play. The Bulls are currently on a three-game losing streak which includes defeats against Ball State, Miami, and Bowling Green. This season, Buffalo has scored 16 goals, while allowing 13 goals against. The Bulls have also recorded 138 shots, with 67 of them on goal for a .486 shots on goal percentage.
Individually, Marcy Barberic leads Buffalo with three goals, one assist and seven points, while Kaitlyn Walsh is second on the team with five points, recording two goals and one assist. In net, Emily Kelly has seen the most action, playing in 11 games while allowing 13 goals and making 45 saves in 1,011 minutes on the pitch.
SWIMMING AND DIVING

Ohio swimming and diving kicks-off the season with an intra-squad meet at the Ohio University Aquatics Center on Friday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. The Bobcats improved tremendously in 2018-19, moving up two places and 168 points at the Mid-American Conference Championships. Ohio was picked to finish fifth in the MAC for the 2019-20 season, ahead of Bowling Green, Ball State, and Toledo.
The Bobcats are led by their three captains, senior Emilia Lahtinen (Ylojarvi, Finland), senior Katherine Redden (Fort Thomas, Ky.), and junior Katherine Garrity (Eagan, Minn.). Last season, Lahtinen obtained NCAA B-Standard times in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke.
Ohio also returns two divers that qualified for NCAA Zone Championships last season. Both sophomore Taylor Miller (Latrobe, Pa.) and redshirt senior Olivia Dillon (Newcastle, Aus.) look to make an impact for the Bobcats.

Ohio field hockey (5-4, 2-1) takes a weekend trip to the state of Michigan, as they take on Michigan State on Friday, Oct.11 before traveling to Mount Pleasant to take on Central Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 13.
The Bobcats come off a 1-1 weekend at Pruitt Field, taking a close one against Longwood 2-1, and losing to in-state rival Ohio State, 6-1. With the win over Longwood, Ohio moved into their place in the MAC standings behind Miami and Kent State, both at 2-0. The RedHawks come to Athens on Friday, Oct. 25 for an what will be an incredibly important conference game.
Redshirt senior Kendall Ballard (Charlottesville, Va.) took the team lead in goals with five on Sunday, when she scored the lone goal against Ohio State. Senior Karynne Baker (Falls Church, Va.) had a tremendous day on Friday, re-derecting two goals past the Longwood goalkeeper to lead the Bobcats to victory. Freshman Weslee Littlefield (Oakland, Maine) recorded a key defensive save late in the game on Friday, allowing Ohio to keep the game from going to overtime.

The Bobcats hit the road to continue MAC play this weekend, facing Akron on Friday and Buffalo on Saturday. Ohio went 1-1 last weekend, taking down Kent State, 3-0 and falling to EMU, 3-1. In the sweep of KSU, senior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens became the 10th member of the 1,000 kill club in the rally scoring era. Stephens ended the sweep with 10 kills and four digs.
Junior setter Vera Giacomazzi is No. 2 in the nation in total assists with 747 and No. 10 in assists per set at 11.32. Stephens sits at No. 11 in total service aces with 32. Ohio is No. 18 in the nation as a team in total assists with 818.

Ohio is coming off a 21-20 overtime road victory over East Division rival Buffalo last Saturday (Oct. 5) in its Mid-American Conference opener. Redshirt freshman running back O'Shaan Allison scored a game-tying five-yard touchdown in overtime, then redshirt senior placekicker Louie Zervos converted the extra point to lift the Bobcats to the win. Ohio put a halt to a three-game losing skid with the win over Buffalo and won its MAC opener for the ninth year in a row and 12th time in 15 tries under head coach Frank Solich.
Allison was named the MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts at Buffalo, earning honors for the first time in his career. Allison scored the first two rushing touchdowns of his collegiate career to help lead the Bobcats to the win over the Bulls last Saturday. scored a one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to help the Bobcats even the score at 14-all, then scored from five yards out in overtime to tie the contest at 20-all and give Ohio the opportunity to convert the game-winning extra point. Allison accounted for a career-high 96 of Ohio's 186 rushing yards in the victory. The Bobcats handed him the ball on all five plays of their overtime possession, and he delivered with 25 yards and the game-tying score.
Ohio is 10-4 in Homecoming games in the previous 14 seasons under head coach Frank Solich. Last year, Ohio rolled to a 49-14 win over Bowling Green on Homecoming on Oct. 20, 2018.
Saturday's game marks the 23rd meeting between Ohio and Northern Illinois, with the Huskies holding a 12-10 advantage over the Bobcats in the all-time series.Ohio and Northern Illinois have met six times during the Solich era, with the series tied at 3-3 during that time frame. The Huskies last visited Peden Stadium on Nov. 18, 2014 and came away with a 21-14 victory over the Bobcats. Ohio's last win over Northern Illinois at home came on Nov. 21, 2009 -- a 38-31 triumph for the Bobcats.

Ohio women's golf concludes their fall schedule Oct. 14-15 at the 2019 Flyer Invitational. The event, hosted by Dayton, will take place in Kettering, Ohio at the NCR Country Club.
The Bobcats have not competed at the Flyer Invitational since 2016. That year, the Bobcats finished in fifth place, finishing with an overall score of 620 (+60).
Ohio is coming off of a ninth-place finish at the 2019 Fall Preview, where the Bobcats finished with a combined score of 984 (+120). Leading Ohio was sophomore Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) who finished tied for 11th place after recording a two-day total of 235 (+19).

The men's golf team is set to compete in its penultimate event of its 2019 fall season when it heads to Burlington, N.C., to take part in the Phoenix Intercollegiate, which will be held Oct. 14-15 at Almance Country Club.
The Bobcats turned in a second-place finish at the Phoenix Intercollegiate last season, posting a combined team score of 848 (-4) -- the second-best three-round total in program history -- thanks in large part to shooting a final-round 279 (-5).
Ohio is coming off of a 15th-place finish at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate where tallied a combined team total score of 906 (+42). Junior Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) recorded the highest finish of the tournament for the Bobcats, tying for 31st place with a 219 (+3). He shot rounds of 73 (+1), 76 (+4) and 70 (-2)
