ATHENS, Ohio -- As we turn the page to December, the Convocation Center is set to play host to three basketball games this week, with two men's basketball games and one women's basketball game on the docket. Meanwhile, the swimming & diving teams are back on the road while the indoor track & field team opens to the 2019-20 season at Marshall on Friday (Dec. 6).

The Bobcats (5-3) return to action for two games this week inside the Convocation Center. On Wednesday (Dec. 4) Ohio plays host to Rio Grande (6-4). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. The Bobcats will battle it out one more time before finals week on Sunday (Dec. 8) when Ohio hosts Tennessee Tech. at 2 p.m. ET inside the Convo. Fans can catch it on ESPN3. There will also be a number of themed events and giveaways at both of these games, including free lightsabers for Star Wars night on Wednesday and free Santa hats on Sunday. 

Fans can also catch the game on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 12th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats," along with Ohio Alum Rob Cornelius. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station network's flagship. The broad- casts are also available online through TuneIn.com/OhioBobcats and on the TuneIn app.

Ohio enters the week with a 5-3 overall recorded after defeating Detroit Mercy, 91-81 on Saturday. In the game, redshirt senior Jordan Dartis (Newark, Ohio) scored 26 points while going 6-of-9 from three-point range. 

Overall, sophomore Jason Preston lead the Bobcats with 17.3 points per game, while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and grabbing 6.0 rebounds per game. Preston has also dished out 65 total assists, which ranks fourth in the nation. Dartis averages 14.5 points per game and is shooting 40.3 percent from three-point range. Redshirt sophomore Ben Vander Plas (Ripon, Wis.) adds 12.6 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per contest. 

Rio Grande enters the matchup on Wednesday with a 6-4 overall record, while Tennessee Tech comes to the Convo with an overall record of 2-6 with wins overs Martin Methodist and Winthrop.

Women's basketball (5-2) returns to the Convo on Saturday, Dec. 7 when the Bobcats host IUPUI (4-3). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN+. 

Ohio went 1-1 last weekend at the Daytona Beach Invitational. OU earned its second Power Five win of the season when they defeated Pitt, 72-50. 

Ohio was led by junior forward Gabby Burris who posted a season-high 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Burris knocked down two three-pointers and pulled in six rebounds. Redshirt junior guard Katie Barker and senior guard Amani Burke (Columbus, Ohio) also had double-digit points in the win. Burke had 13 points and was 3-of-7 from behind the arc while Barker knocked down four from deep and finished with 12 points. Barker pulled down six boards, tying her career high, while Burke also had six rebounds.

In the game against Butler, junior guard Cece Hooks had two steals, putting her over the career steals record at Ohio with 231 in her career. Hooks passed Kiki Lampkins for most steals in school history. Hooks had five points, four rebounds and three assists.

The swimming & diving team returns to action this week as well. The swimmers will head to Atlanta, Ga. Wednesday, Dec. 4-Saturday, Dec. 7 for the 2019 Toyota U.S. Open. The four-day event will take place at the McAuley Aquatic Center, located within the Georgia Tech Campus Rec. Center and will give swimmers the chance to build on their momentum and improve their times ahead of the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which takes place June 21-28 in Omaha, Nebraska. Those competing in Atlanta will have a chance to punch their tickets to Omaha for a shot at making Team USA's roster for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.  

Fans will be able to catch the action on USASwimming.org or on NBCSports.com. 

The Ohio divers will head to Oxford, Ohio for the 2019 Miami Diving Invitational, Dec. 5-7. The three-day event will take place at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. 

Junior captain Katherine Garrity (Eagan, Minn.) and junior Samantha Glass (Villa Hills, Ky.) impressed at the Ohio State Fall Open Invitational, with Garrity finishing with a 16:55.13 in the 1650 Freestyle, and Glass taking 19th in the 400 IM, with a time of 4:23.45.

Ohio track and field opens the 2019-20 indoor season on Friday at the 2019 Marshall Opener. The one-day event will take place at the Chris Cline Athletics Complex in Huntington, W.Va.

Redshirt senior Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) highlights the 2019-20 returners for Ohio. Koziol 12th in the 1 mile run, with a time of 5:01.58 at the Indoor MAC Championships last season. Redshirt senior Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio) also competed well at the event, finishing 11th in the 3000m run with a time of 10:06.46.
