BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Ohio track and field team completed day one of the 2023 Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships inside Perry Fieldhouse on Feb. 24.
Senior Kassidy Betzing (Pomeroy, Ohio) led the Bobcats in the long jump, jumping 5.10m. Junior Emily McKenzie (Dillsburg, Pa.) followed closely behind with a jump of 4.94m.
In the mile, fifth years Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) and Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) advanced to the finals with times of 4:56.86 and 4:57.27. Freshman Allie Martin (Kingwood, W.Va.) clocked a 4:58.15, knocking eight seconds off her previous PR, while senior Alyssa Christian (Newark, Ohio) ran a 5:03.36.
Graduate student Larissa Manciaz (Eagle Lake, Texas) recorded a 58.42 in the 400m prelims, while freshman Josie Knierim (McConnelsville, Ohio) and redshirt senior Taniah Stephens (Erie, Pa.) clocked a 7.67 and 7.88 in the 60m prelims. Knierim also competed in the 200m prelim, running a 24.44.
Fifth year Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) and junior Jordan Baith (Seville, Ohio) closed out the field events for the day with throws of 14.94m and 13.47m in the weight throw.
In the 5000m, freshman Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) finished in the top-8, clocking a new PR of 17:01.27. Sophomore Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) also competed, finishing in 17:15.48.
The team of sophomore Theresa Hagey (Akron, Ohio), junior Imani Brown (Crown Point, Ind.), Christian, and Pierce wrapped up day one with a fifth-place finish in the 4000m distance medley relay. The team secured the finish with a time of 11:56.78.
The Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow to compete in day two of the 2023 Mid-American Conference Championships. Field events will begin at 11 a.m. and running events will start at 1:30 p.m. ET.
