ATHENS, Ga. – Ohio freshman swimmer
Zita Szoke opened competition at the 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday morning (March 21), setting a new school record in the 50-yard freestyle.
Szoke (Hodmezovasarhely, Hungary) began her NCAA trip in the first heat of the 50-yard freestyle, in which Szoke won the heat and set a new personal best and school record with a time 22.42. Her time shaved .18 off her previous personal best in the event.
Szoke's time placed her 48
th overall in the prelims.
Szoke returns to the pool for the 200-yard freestyle on Friday, March 22. Prelims are set to start at 10 a.m. with finals set for 6 p.m. inside Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia.
