ATHENS, Ga. – Ohio freshman swimmer
Zita Szoke returned to action for her second day of competition at the 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Friday morning (March 22) inside Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia. Szoke continued her impressive postseason run by setting a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle.
Szoke (Hodmezovasarhely, Hungary) swam in the second heat of the preliminary races this morning, placing third in her heat, clocking in with a time of 1:45.87, a new personal best and school record in the event. Szoke, the MAC Champion in the 200 free, shaved .09 seconds off the previous school record of 1:45.96 that she set in the MAC prelims on March 1.
Szoke's time placed her 38
th overall in the morning's prelims.
Szoke returns to the pool for the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday, March 23. The 100 free is Szoke's NCAA qualifying event, in which she holds the school record for with a time of 48.30.
Prelims are set to start at 10 a.m. with finals set for 6 p.m. inside Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia and can be seen on ESPN+.
