Ohio Men's Golf Completes Robert Kepler Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Men's Golf team wrapped up play today (Apr. 21) at the Richard Kepler Intercollegiate at Ohio State's Scarlet Course. The Bobcats finished in 18th place after shooting a 907 (+55) as a team.

The tournament was won by Indiana, who won the tournament with a score of 871 (+19). Joining the Bobcats and Hoosiers in the field were Ohio State,  Kent State, South Dakota State, Kansas City, Purdue, Dayton, Northern Illinois, Iowa, Colorado State, Creighton, Miami (OH), Eastern Michigan, Maryland, St. John's, Abilene Christian, and North Dakota State. 

The tournament spanned over three days (Apr. 19-21) with one round played each day. The course played at a length of 7,455 yards with par set at 71.

Three Bobcats shared the top spot for the team: sophomore Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio), junior Matt Daulton (Lebanon, Ohio), and junior Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada). The three tied for 67th overall, finishing with a three-round score of 227 (+14). 

Trafford opened his tournament with a round of 78 (+7), before notching his best round of the weekend with a 72 (+1) in the second. He finished his third round with a 77 (+6) to round out the tournament. 

Just as Trafford in his third round, Daulton opened his tournament with a 77 (+6). He improved his scores over the next two days, finishing the second and third rounds with a pair of 75's (+4). 

The only Bobcat to record an eagle in the tournament, Hogan joined Trafford in opening the tournament with a 78 (+7), before recording two more impressive rounds 74 (+3) and 75 (+4) in the second and third rounds respectively. 

Senior Jack Neville (Terrace Park, Ohio) finished in a tie for 83rd with a total score of 230 (+17). Neville's three rounds consisted of 73 (+2), 80 (+9), and 77 (+6). 

Rounding out the tournament for the Bobcats was sophomore Will Kates (Centennial, Colo.), placing in a tie for 89th. The sophomore had rounds of 78 (+7), 76 (+5), and 78 (+7) for a total score of 232 (+19). 

The Robert Kepler Intercollegiate served as the Bobcats final tune-up before heading to the 2024 MAC Championships. The conference tournament, hosted by Toledo, will span three days (Apr. 26-28) at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Ind.
