DEKALB, Ill. – The Ohio Baseball (8-20, 3-5 MAC) team fell to Northern Illinois (9-21, 5-3 MAC), 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Ralph McKenzie field.
Senior INF Rudy Rott (Holmen, Wis.) was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Rott had a double in the ninth inning to bring in two Bobcats.
NIU started up 1-0 in the third inning when Alex Rodríguez scored on a Brendan Joyce single to center field. The Huskies extended its lead in the third when Nick Drobushevich scored two on a single to right field.
The Huskies pushed their advantage to 5-0 with a Kam Smith single to right field and a Drobushevich infield single.
Rott brought home two RBI on a double to right center field that scored redshirt freshman OF Trevor Lukkes (Tustin, Calif.) and redshirt junior OF Ryan Sargent (Algonquin, Ill.). Lukkes reached on a double and Sargent reached on a walk.
Lukkes finished the day 2-for-5 with one run scored and a double. Sargent was a pinch hitter and was 0-for-0 with a walk and one run scored.
Sophomore INF Aaron Levy (Cincinnati, Ohio), redshirt sophomore Michael Richardson (Cambridge, Md.), redshirt junior C Nathan Mallott (Omaha, Neb) and sophomore OF Sebastian Fabik (Lebanon, Ohio) all had one single today.
Redshirt freshman Jack Liberatore (Greensburg, Pa.) fell to 3-4 this season after allowing three earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Liberatore struck out three batters in the game.
Sophomore RHP Edward Kutt IV (Westlake, Calif.) tossed 2.0 innings and allowed just one hit while fanning two batters.
Sophomore LHP Brett Manis (Port Huron, Mich.) fanned one batter in 1.1 innings while allowing just one hit.
