ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Baseball team (14-26, 8-9 MAC) dropped the second game of the series to Kent State (21-19, 9-6 MAC), 18-11, on Saturday afternoon at Bob Wren Stadium.
Sophomore OF Sebastian Fabik (Lebanon, Ohio) had a season-high five RBI after hitting a three-run home run and a two-RBI double. Fabik scored one run during the game. Fabik has hit three home runs this season.
Junior INF Trevor Hafner (Perrysburg, Ohio) knocked in a season-high four RBI after going deep for the first time this season after going 3-for-4. Hafner brought home one run after being hit by a pitch and scored three runs in the game.
Senior INF Rudy Rott had the first RBI of the game for Ohio on a single to left field and ended the game 2-for-3 with two walks and two singles.
Junior C Tanner Piechnick (Canonsburg, Pa.) had a double and also scored two runs while going 1-for-4 with a walk.
Ohio had seven hits and drew 10 walks in the game.
Ohio jumped out to an early 8-2 lead behind production in the eight and nine spot of the batting order. KSU punched back in the sixth inning with a seven run inning. Ohio was able to cut KSU's lead down to 13-11 in the bottom half of the seventh inning but Kent State went on to win, 18-11.
Freshman RHP Braxton Kelly (Ulysses, Ky.) was given the loss after allowing three earned runs in 0.1 innings pitched. Kelly is now 1-2.
Redshirt freshman RHP Jack Liberatore (Greensburg, Pa.) was Ohio's starter and allowed seven earned runs in 5.0 innings. Liberatore struck out three batters.
Freshman RHP Eamon Horwedel (Ann Arbor, Mich.) pitched the ninth inning and allowed just one runner to reach base while not giving up a run.
Ohio will finish the series with Kent State on Sunday 1 p.m.
