UTICA, Mich. – Former Ohio Baseball right-handed pitcher Kenny Ogg (Indianapolis, Ind.) signed a professional contract with the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers of the United Shores Professional Baseball League on Tuesday (June 11).
Ogg joins former Ohio Baseball player Gerry Salisbury on the Beavers team.
Ogg started a team-high 14 games for the Bobcats in 2019, going 4-8. Ogg tossed a team-high 82.2 innings for Ohio while striking out 54 batters. He had two complete game wins this season, including one in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. Ogg went all nine innings in Ohio's MAC Tournament opening win over Kent State, allowing three earned runs while fanning one batter. Ogg also tossed 8.0 innings of shutout baseball against the Golden Flashes earlier in the season, helping Ohio earn a 1-0 win. His other complete game was Ohio's 6-3 win over Eastern Michigan, where he struck out six batters. Ogg's season-high for strikeouts was at S.C. Upstate where he fanned eight batters in 6.0 innings.
Ogg finished his career with eight wins and a 4.96 ERA. Ogg struck out 101 batters in his four years and tossed 161.1 innings while at Ohio.
Head coach Rob Smith now has six players playing professional baseball - Tom Colletti (San Diego Padres – Single A Fort Wayne Tin Caps), Logan Cozart (Colorado Rockies – Double A Hartford Yard Goats), Mitch Longo (Cleveland Indians – Double A Akron Rubberducks), Kenny Ogg (USPBL – Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers) Rudy Rott (Philadelphia Philles organization) and Gerry Salisbury (USPBL – Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers).
The USPBL is an independent baseball league in Utica, Michigan with four teams, the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers, Eastside Diamond Hoppers, Utica Unicorns and Westside Woolly Mammoths. All games are played at Jimmy John's Field.
