MALE SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: Ty Black
Week's Achievements: Senior infielder Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) led the Ohio baseball team (11-11) at the plate last week, batting a team-best .438 with a team-high seven hits. After tallying three singles against Morehead State last Tuesday (March 21), Black went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs scored on Friday (March 24) in the weekend series opener against Butler.
FEMALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: Emma Ryan
Sport: Track & Field
Week's Achievements: Senior Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio) helped the Ohio track & field team have a successful meet at this year's Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State. Ryan started off the weekend placing third overall in the javelin with a throw of 43.99 meters, which currently ranks as the second-best throw in the Mid-American Conference. She then went on to compete in the hammer throw, where she finished ninth with a throw of 53.57 meters -- a new personal-best and the third-best toss in the conference. The senior ended the weekend placing 17th in the discus with a throw of 43.27 meters, which represented the conference's sixth-best throw in the event.
