ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio football team held its annual pro day inside the Carin Strength and Conditioning Center and Walter Fieldhouse this afternoon, and there were strong performances across the board by the nine Bobcats who participated.
Displaying their skills both in the weight room and on the football field in front of over 20 National Football League and Canadian Football League scouts were offensive lineman Joe Anderson (Torrance, Calif.), linebacker Evan Croutch (Youngstown, Ohio), running back Maleek Irons (Chillwack, British Columbia, Canada), offensive lineman Joe Lowery (Tallmadge, Ohio), wide receiver Andrew Meyer (Canal Winchester, Ohio), safety Kylan Nelson (Lexington, Ky.), running back A.J. Ouellette (Covington, Ohio), wide receiver Papi White (Seminole, Okla.) and offensive lineman Durrell Wood (Columbus, Ohio).
After charting the participants measurables such as height, weight, hand size and wingspan, pro day officially began with the bench press. Croutch totaled 25 reps, which would have ranked tied for fourth among linebackers at the NFL Combine last month.
Ouellette recorded 32, which would have ranked second among running backs at the combine. He followed up that effort on the bench press with a leap of 36.5 inches in the vertical jump.
White recorded an impressive 40-inch leap in the vert, then turned in times of 4.47 and 4.43 in the 40-yard dash and 6.93 in the three-cone drill. Ouellette clocked times of 4.55 and 4.50 in the 40.
Pro day concluded with drill work at the respective positions of the participants.
