2019 Athlon Sports All-MAC Teams

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio football team placed 12 student-athletes on the 2019 Athlon Sports All-Mid-American Conference Teams, as announced by the publication today. The Bobcats tied Toledo and Western Michigan for the most selections in the league and tallied the most selections among the conference's East Division teams.

Senior quarterback Nathan Rourke (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) and redshirt junior wide receiver Cameron Odom (Bedford, Ohio) were named First-Team Offense while redshirt senior safety Javon Hagan (Jacksonville, Fla.) was named First-Team Defense and punter/kicker Michael Farkas (Mishawaka, Ind.) was named a First-Team Specialist. Ohio's four first-team picks tied Western Michigan for the most in the conference. Rourke (Second Team), Hagan (First Team) and Farkas (First Team) all earned All-MAC honors in 2018.

Five Bobcats were named to the Second Team, with redshirt senior offensive lineman Austen Pleasants (Ironton, Ohio) representing the offense, redshirt junior defensive lineman Will Evans (Augusta, Ga.) and junior cornerbacks Marlin Brooks (Miami, Fla.) and Jamal Hudson (Miami, Fla.) representing the defense and redshirt senior kicker Louie Zervos (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) representing the specialists.

Redshirt senior center Steven Hayes (Dacula, Ga.) garnered Third-Team Offense recognition while redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Amos Ogun-Semore (Dacula, Ga.) was named Third-Team Defense. Redshirt junior linebacker Jared Dorsa (Kings Mills, Ohio) rounded out Ohio's 2019 Athlon Sports All-MAC picks, earning Fourth-Team Defense selection.

Over the last 14 years under the leadership of head coach Frank Solich, Ohio has recorded 106 wins, captured four MAC East Division titles, appeared in 10 bowl games and tallied four bowl victories. The Bobcats recorded their second-straight nine-win season in 2018, capping the year off with a 27-0 shutout of San Diego State in the 2018 DXL Frisco Bowl to record their second-straight bowl win.

Ohio kicks off the 2019 regular season on Saturday, Aug. 31, with a matchup against Rhode Island at Peden Stadium. Call 800-575-2287 for ticket information.
