Ohio Football's King Added to Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper Award Watch List

LAKE BLUFF, Ill. -- Redshirt senior senior long snapper Devin King (Thornville, Ohio) of the Ohio football team has been added to the 2019 Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper Award Watch List.

The Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper Award celebrates the best long snappers in college football.

King is in his second season serving as Ohio's long snapper after joining the Bobcats as a walk-on prior to the 2018 season. He has helped Ohio's special teams units continue their tradition of being among the best country in terms of kicking, punting and kick and punt coverage. A long snapper during his high school career at Sheridan High School, King was previously a member of Ohio's wrestling team. In additon to his achievements as a wrestler, King serves as a second lieutenant in the Ohio Army National Guard.

Ohio has placed players on 12 award watch lists for the 2019 season. In addition to King being named to the Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper Award Watch List, senior quarterback Nathan Rourke (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was named to the Maxwell AwardDavey O'Brien AwardWalter Camp Player of the Year AwardCollege Football Performance Awards National Performer of the Year TrophyJohnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and Manning Award watch lists, redshirt senior center Steven Hayes (Dacula, Ga.) was named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List, redshirt senior safety Javon Hagan (Jacksonville, Fla.) and junior cornerback Jamal Hudson (Miami, Fla.) were named to the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, Hagan was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, redshirt senior kicker Louie Zervos (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) was named to the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Preseason Watch List and redshirt senior punter/kickoff specialist Michael Farkas (Mishawaka, Ind.) was added to the Ray Guy Award Watch List.

Ohio (3-4, 2-1 MAC) is coming off of a critical 45-38 Mid-American Conference East Division victory over Kent State last Saturday (Oct. 19) at Peden Stadium. The East Division-leading Bobcats will travel to Muncie, Ind., to take on MAC West Division leader Ball State (4-3, 3-0 MAC) on Saturday (Oct. 26). Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET from Scheumann Stadium. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ in addition to being broadcast live on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. The radio broadcasts are also available online through TuneIn.com/OhioBobcats and on the TuneIn app.
