ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University athletics department and the Ohio Sports Network have announced the affiliates that will carry games featuring the Ohio football team during the 2006 season.
The newest member of the OSN lineup is WLGN-AM 1510 in Logan, bringing the total number of affiliates to an even dozen.
"We are excited to join forces with the Ohio Sports Network, bringing Bobcat athletics to their many fans here in Logan and Hocking County," said WLGN General Manager Scott Blazer. "OSN broadcasts will be a great addition to our already strong Sports Radio format."
Derek Scott, Ohio Associate Athletics Director for Communication, hailed the addition of WLGN. "Logan is a very important area for Ohio Athletics to grow in exposure," Scott said. "There is a budding Bobcat fan base in Hocking County and partnering with WLGN will only help us to cultivate that."
Scott will return for his eighth season as "The Voice of The Bobcats" and his 10th season with the Ohio Sports Network. Former Ohio All-MAC running back Chad Brinker joins the broadcast team in 2006 as the color analyst, and Jason Koma is back for his second season as the Bobcats' sideline reporter.
WXTQ-FM (105.5) in Athens will once again serve as the flagship station. Fans that live outside of the central and southeastern Ohio region can listen to OSN broadcasts online by subscribing to the Yahoo School Pass, which costs $4.95 per month and allows access to every game and coach's show broadcast on the Ohio Sports Network. Yahoo School Pass subscribers have the flexibility of listening to the broadcasts live or hearing the archived version of the broadcasts at any time after the live airing.
The Bobcats open the 2006 season on Sept. 2 at Peden Stadium against Tennessee-Martin. For information on tickets and the new Bobcat Family Package, which includes two adult and two youth (ages 3-18) season tickets for $79, call the Ohio Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-575-CATS.
