ATHENS, Ohio - Junior wide receiver Chido Nwokocha (Elk Grove, Calif.) has been an immediate contributor to the Bobcats this season after arriving from Sacramento City College. At this week's football press conference, Nwokocha answered questions about the Rutgers game, the team's travel schedule and what the offense can do to get back on track.
After not catching a pass in the opener against UT Martin, Nwokocha has had four receptions in each of the last two games. His eight catches have resulted in 72 yards, including a 20-yard play to convert a third-and-19 and help keep the Bobcats' touchdown drive alive.
Nwokocha joined the team in time for spring workouts and has been one of the Bobcats' starting receivers in each of the first three games. He had 119 receptions for 1,665 yards and 14 touchdowns in his two seasons of junior college football.
After Saturday's game at Missouri, the Bobcats return home for the next two contests. Ohio will face MAC East Division rival Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. The Bobcats will then square off with Western Michigan on Oct. 7 at 12 p.m. That game is the MAC Game of the Week and will be televised on Fox Sports Net Ohio, Comcast Local in Michigan, Comcast Sports Net Chicago and Time Warner 13 in Buffalo.
