ATHENS, Ohio - For the first time since Sept. 2 the Bobcat football team will play in front of its home crowd when hosts Bowling Green at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. Head Coach Frank Solich talked about the recent three-game road trip at his weekly press conference this past Monday.
In addition to discussing life on the road, Solich talked about taking on opponents that are now ranked in the top 25 in each of the past two games. He also offered his views on improving the offense's production.
Saturday's game against Bowling Green begins a stretch of seven MAC games in the fi nal eight contests of the season. The only non-conference game remaining for Ohio is at Illinois on Oct. 14.
Ohio Head Coach Frank Solich will be coaching in his 10th MAC game when the Bobcats face Bowling Green. Solich currently stands at 4-5 through his fi rst nine league games. A win against the Falcons would make Solich the fi rst Bobcat head coach to have a .500-or-better record through their fi rst 10 conference games since Brian Burke started 5-5 in MAC play in 1979 and 1980. Since 1996, the Bobcats have started MAC play 2-0 three times. In each of those seasons, Ohio has posted winning records in conference play. The 1996 team won its first two MAC games and finished 5-3. In 1997, Ohio won its fi rst six league games en route to a 6-2 mark. In 1999, the squad started 2-0 and was 5-3 in MAC play.
Ohio's defense has forced six turnovers in the last two games, including four interceptions and two fumbles. The Bobcats have forced seven turnovers for the season.
