ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio redshirt freshman punter Michael Farkas (Mishawaka, Ind.) was named the Mid-American Conference East Specialist of the Week announced the league Monday.
Farkas had six punts for 232 yards pinning three punts inside the 20-yardline, including the final punt of the game which led to Ohio’s final score of the game, a sack in Miami’s end zone.
On the season, Farkas has made 25 punts for 1,020 yards including pinning 10 inside the 20. Ohio currently ranks third in the NCAA in punt return defense having allowed an average of -0.63 yards per return. Farkas is averaging 40.8 yards per punt including a long of 50-yards while only netting one touchback.
Farkas is the fifth Ohio player to be named a MAC East Player of the Week and this marks the seventh Player of the Week award for the Bobcats.
Ohio returns to action on Saturday hosting Bowling Green for the annual homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Peden Stadium.
