ATHENS, Ohio - The Bobcats will be seeking their third-consecutive victory when they host the Buffalo Bulls on Saturday, Oct. 21. Watch highlights from Head Coach Frank Solich's weekly press conference as he breaks down Ohio's Homecoming opponent.
The Bobcats have not won three consecutive games since the 2000 season. That was also the last time Ohio began its season with a 5-3 overall mark. A win would give the Bobcats their best MAC start (3-1) since the 1997 squad won its first six conference games.
Ohio secured a 34-20 victory at Buffalo last season. Kalvin McRae paced the offense with 224 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries. The Bobcats also threw for three touchdowns. Austen Everson hit Scott Mayle for the game's first score, and after a McRae touchdown run, Brandon Jones tossed his first career touchdown pass, a 19-yarder to Justin Fitzgerald t put Ohio ahead 20-0. The Bobcats led 27-7 in the third quarter, but the Bulls put 13 unanswered points on the board to cut the Ohio advantage to 27-20 with 12:01 left in the fourth. The Bobcats scored the game's final touchdown on a pass from Everson to Dion Byrum with 9:12 to go.
Buffalo quarterback Drew Willy finished the game 24-for-36 for 293 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Jared Patterson had 93 rushing yards on five carries, while Steven King added 70 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts.
