Short Story: The Ohio field hockey team (1-2, 0-0 MAC) suffered its second loss of the season, 3-0 to America East foe UC Davis Aggies (1-1, 0-0 America East) on Friday (Sep. 2) at Pruitt Field in Athens, Ohio.
HOW IT HAPPENED
â¢ UC Davis would strike first with just over 10 minutes gone in the first half, with Kate Young putting one past Ohio Redshirt goalkeeper Lina Trucco (Lake Bluff, Ill.).
â¢ Trucco would come up big just four minutes later when she would make a sprawling save to stop a UC Davis shot.
â¢ After a sluggish five minutes from both sides, UC Davis would go up 2-0 on a goal by Courtney Hessler.
â¢ At the half, UC Davis led 2-0, but was outshot by Ohio 5-4 and was losing the penalty corner battle 4-3.
â¢ Trucco would continue to come up clutch after stopping a powerful shot off a corner four minutes into the second half.
â¢ However, Kathleen Humphries of UC Davis would put one by Trucco with 20 minutes left in the game to put the Aggies up 3-0
â¢ The last 20 minutes were filled with a lot of action in the middle of the field and finished with a UC Davis victory.
â¢ Despite losing, Ohio led the shot battle 13-7. Sophomore Kendall Ballard (Charlottesville, Va.) led the Bobcats with six shots.
â¢ Ohio also finished the game with a 10-4 lead in Penalty corners.
