MALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: Kent Berger
Position: Defensive Lineman
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Week’s Achievements: Redshirt sophomore Kent Berger (Mentor, Ohio) helped lead the Ohio football (2-2) to a 37-21 win over Gardner-Webb last Saturday (Sept. 24) at Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio, totaling three tackles (one solo, one assisted) -- including a sack and another tackle for a loss. His second quarter sack of Gardner Webb junior quarterback Tyrell Maxwell in the end zone for a safety extend the Bobcats’ lead to 30-7. Berger has logged seven career tackles (five solo, two assisted) -- including three tackles for loss.
FEMALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Name: Kendall Ballard
Sport: Field Hockey
Major: Health Sciences & Professions
Week’s Achievements: Sophomore midfielder Kendall Ballard (Charlottesville, Va.) helped lead the Ohio field hockey team (3-6) to a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over Ball State (4-6) on Sunday (Sept. 25) at Pruitt Field in Athens, Ohio, finishing with five shots to tie for the match lead -- including two on goal. She assisted on the first goal of the match as freshman Brittany Keen (Perth, Western Australia) delivered the first goal of the match off of a corner. Ballard has now notched four helpers this season and five in her career.
