“Getting To Know The @OhioFieldHockey Team” is a series where each player is asked 10 questions about themselves. The questions range from personal interests to background information about each player. Today’s featured player is sophomore Kendall Ballard (Charlottesville, Va.).
Where are you from? Was field hockey big where you grew up?
I am from Charlottesville, Va., and field hockey wasn’t big in my hometown. I had to travel to Northern Virginia to go play on the weekends, but it has grown immensely since I’ve left.
What is your favorite thing about Athens?
I love the look of the campus, especially during my recruiting process. I couldn’t find anywhere else that I loved as much. I just never got the same feel anywhere else either.
What is your hidden talent?
It’s not really a talent, but I can’t make guns with my fingers.
What is your favorite thing about being a member of the Bobcats?
I have to say the bus rides. The girls and I find a lot of fun ways to entertain ourselves.
What is your favorite type of music?
I listen to a lot of R&B, pop and hip-hop music.
What artist or type of music do you listen to get pumped up for a match?
I like to listen to “All of the Above” by Maino.
What is your favorite food?
I really love corned beef and ice cream.
What is your favorite sport other than field hockey?
Basketball, for sure.
What is your favorite hobby?
Going kayaking with my family.
What is your major? What do you want to do after college?
My major is athletic training. I would really love to play on the United States National Team at some point. Then later on down the road, I’d like to work in a high school setting as an athletic trainer.
