CHANDLER, Ariz. – Ohio field hockey sophomore Kendall Ballard (Charlottesville, Va.) has been selected as a 2016 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Second Team All-West Region honoree, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Tuesday (Nov. 29).
Ballard joins then-senior Adele Sammons, 2015, to combine for back-to-back all-region selections for Ohio for the first time since 2012.
Ballard put together a career season in her sophomore campaign. In 16 matches for Ohio during the 2016 season, she led the Bobcats with a career-high 12 goals, 28 points, 55 shots and 31 shots on goal. Ballard also finished tied for second on the squad in assists (4), which was also a career-high. Ballard finished in the top-10 in the Mid-American Conference in shots (9th), points (5th), goals (5th) and assists (10th) during the 2016 season.
Ballard now has 13 goals and five assists during her career at Ohio. She has also accumulated 70 shots, with 41 coming on goal.
Ohio finished the season with six victories, three of which came in conference matches. Ohio’s season ended when it missed the MAC Championship on a tiebreaker by goal differential with Ball State and Longwood.
