ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio men's golf team heads to northwest Ohio this week (Sept. 18-19) to compete in the Inverness Intercollegiate at Toledo's Inverness Club.
The 54-hole event will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET with 36 holes on Monday (Sept. 18). A 9 a.m. ET shotgun start will be utilized for the final 18 holes on Tuesday (Sept. 19). Live scoring will be available through GolfStat.
The Bobcats will battle Mid-American Conference rivals Toledo, Bowling Green, Miami and Northern Illinois in addition to UCLA, Fresno State, Mercer, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Saint Mary's and Washington. Oklahoma State will have three individuals participating.
Auburn captured the team championship at last year's Inverness Intercollegiate after shooting a tournament-record nine-under par 843 (-9).
Ohio opened the 2017-18 season at the 2017 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational at the Guyan Country Club in Huntington, W. Va. The Bobcats placed 11th after tallying a two-round total team score of 583 (+15) last Monday (Sept. 11). The Bobcats combined to card an opening-round score of 294 (+10) and followed it up with a 289 (+5) in the second. Final-round action was set to be played on Tuesday (Sept. 12), but heavy rain forced the cancelation of the remainder of the tournament.
Redshirt senior Tom Nettles (McMurray, Pa.) ranked as Ohio's top finisher, tying for 19th with a 143 (+1). He improved upon a first-round 73 (+2) with a second-round 70 (-1).
Ohio will host the 27th Annual Bobcat Open on Sept. 25 at The Lakes Golf and Country Club in Westerville, Ohio. The Bobcat Open serves as a fundraiser for Ohio's men's and women's golf teams.
The Bobcats will return to competition Oct. 2-3 at the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
