BURLINGTON, N.C. -- The Ohio men's golf team is tied for fourth place with Presbyterian and Temple with a combined team score of 569 (+1) through the first two rounds of Phoenix Intercollegiate, which took place today at Alamance Country Club.
The Bobcats improved upon a first-round 290 (+6) that had them in a tie for eighth with a second-round 279 (-5) that advanced them four spots on the leaderboard. Ohio tallied 34 birdies, which is tied for the tournament lead.
Host Elon is leading the tournament by four strokes with a 560 (-8) after rounds of 277 (-7) and 283 (-1). Elon junior William Harwood and senior Trey Wren are tied at the top of leaderboard with scores of 135 (-7), leading the rest of the field by two strokes.
Sophomore Zach Mandry (Vandalia, Ohio) is leading the way for Ohio 140 (-2), following up a first-round 69 (-2) with a 71 (E) in the second. Mandry's first round score matched his career best. He shot a -6 on the par 5s, which is tied for the tournament lead.
Senior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) carded rounds of 75 (+4) and 67 (-4) for a two-round total of 142 (E), tying him for 15th. His second-round 67 marked the lowest single-round score of his collegiate career.
Sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) is tied for 22nd with a 143 (+1) after tallying round scores of 73 (+2) and 70 (-1).
Sophomore Tanner Johnson (Venetia, Pa.) posted round scores of 73 (+2) and 71 (E) for a two-round total of 144 (+2), tying him for 30th.
Sophomore Austin Dyson (Dublin, Ohio) is in 90th with a 156 (+14) after carding rounds of 76 (+5) and 80 (+9).
Ohio will look to finish its fall season strong on Tuesday (Oct. 16) in the third and final round of the Phoenix Intercollegiate. Tee times are set for 8 a.m.
