DADE CITY, Fla. -- The No. 5-seeded Ohio men's golf team fell to No. 6-seeded DePaul, 4.5-1.5, today in the fifth-place match of the 2019 Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play at Lake Jovita Golf Club.
No. 2-seeded Miami defeated No. 4-seeded Bowling Green, 4-2, to win the 2019 East Yestingsmeier Match Play championship. In the third-place match, No. 3-seeded Ball State upset No. 1-seeded Eastern Michigan, 4-2. The seventh-place match saw No. 7-seeded Drake top No. 8-seeded Loyola Chicago, 4-2.
Sophomore Zach Mandry (Solon, Ohio) accounted for Ohio's lone victory against the Blue Demons, defeating DePaul sophomore Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan, 2&1. Sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) finished all squared against DePaul sophomore Joe McCarthy.
Ohio will return to action next month when it heads to North Carolina for the Pinehurst Intercollegiate (March 8-9).
