PINEHURST, N.C. -- The Ohio men's golf team recorded a strong second round today at Pinehurst No. 8 to improve one spot on the leaderboard on the second day of action of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. A day after tallying a total team score of 315 (+31) to sit in 13th place, the Bobcats moved up to 12th with a second-round 301 (+17).
Davidson maintained its hold on first place. After notching a 285 (+1) on Friday, the Wildcats combined to card a 287 (+3) in the second round. Davidson now owns a 20-stroke lead. Freshman Clayton Tribus of Davidson is still leading the field. He followed up a first-round 67 (-4) with a second round 72 (+1).
Sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) is still leading the way for the Bobcats. After shooting a 74 (+3) in the first round, he tallied a 75 (+4) in the second to advance one spot into a tie for 16th with a two-round total of 149 (+7).
Senior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) made the biggest leap on the leaderboard for Ohio, jumping up 18 spots into a tie for 52nd after he shot a 74 (+3) in the second round. His two-round total stands at 155 (+13) after notching an 81 (+10) in the first round.
Sophomore Austin Dyson (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Tanner Johnson (Venetia, Pa.) are now tied for 56th with identical two-round totals of 156 (+14). Dyson improved one spot on the leaderboard after following a first-round 79 (+8) up with a 77 (+6) in the second. Johnson shot 14 places up the leaderboard thanks to a second-round 75 (+4) that followed up an 81 (+10) in the first.
Sophomore Zach Mandry (Solon, Ohio) is tied for 75th with a two-round score of 161 (+19). He has tallied rounds of 82 (+11) and 79 (+8).
The Pinehurst Intercollegiate will conclude with third-round action on Sunday (March 10).
