Ohio Men's Golf Ties For Sixth At Weather-Shortened 2019 MAC Championships

AURORA, Ohio -- The Ohio men's golf team finished in a tie for sixth place with Miami with a two-round total team score of 603 (+27) at the weather-shortended 2019 Mid-American Conference Championships at Club Walden.

The third and final round of the 2019 MAC Championships was scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. ET today but was cancalled due to poor conditions.

Kent State and Eastern Michigan tied for first place through with matching total team scores of 581 (+5). The Golden Flashes earned the MAC's 2019 NCAA Championships automatic qualifier due to tiebreaker (cumulative total of non-counting scores). Toledo senior Duncan McNeill earned medalist honors with a 139 (-5) after rounds of 71 (-1) and 68 (-4).

After weather conditions forced the postponement of play on Friday (April 26), the 2019 MAC Championships finally got underway on Saturday.

Sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) led the way for the Bobcats with a 149 (+5), putting him in a tie for 13th place. After shooting 78 (+6) in the first round, Crawford came back with a 71 (-1) to move up nine spots on the leaderboard.

Sophomore Zach Mandry (Solon, Ohio) shot two rounds of 75 (+3), tying him for 18th with a 150 (+6).

Sophomore Tanner Johnson (Venetia, Pa.) tied for 26th with a 152 (+8) after posting round scores of 75 (+3) and 77 (+5).

Sophomore Austin Dyson (Dublin, Ohio) advanced one spot on the leaderboard with a second-round 73 (+1) after a first-round 82 (+10). He tied for 36th place with a 155 (+11). 

Senior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) tied for 43rd after shooting a 74 (+2) in the second round.

The Bobcats completed their first season under the direction of first-year head coach Carter Cheves. Cheves guided the Bobcats to three-top five finishes this season, including a second-place finish at the Phoenix Intercollegiate (Oct. 15-16, 2018).
