CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second-straight week, Ohio women's basketball freshman guard Cierra Hooks was named the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week, the league announced today.
Hooks once again led Ohio offensively, stringing together her most impressive week to date. Hooks averaged 23.0 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists per game and went 20-of-38 from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. The week also saw Hooks set a new career-high in points with 30 against CMU.
On Feb. 7 against CMU, Hooks scored a career-high 30 points, going 12-of-20 from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds, had one assist and a career-high nine steals. She also went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the 74-72 loss to CMU.
On Feb. 10 at Kent State, Burke scored 16 points, going 8-of-16 from the field, grabbed one rebounds, dished out one assists and had three steals in Ohio's 78-65 victory.
Up next, the Bobcats head to Ypsilanti, Mich. to take on Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Feb. 14. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Convocation Center.
