ATHENS, Ohio – The Daytona Beach Invitational has finalized the tournament schedule, the tournament announced on Tuesday. Ohio will take on Pittsburgh and Butler in the tournament.
The Bobcats will face Pitt on Friday, November 29 at 3:30 p.m. and Butler on Saturday, November 30 at 11 a.m. All games will be played at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. No live stream will be available for the games. Jake Hromada will be live on the AM 1340 WOUB and OhioBobcats.com for both games.
Ohio, Pitt and Butler are joined by Alcorn State, Belmont, Butler, Clemson, Georgia, Maryland, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech at the Daytona Beach Invitational.
Pitt went 11-20 and 2-14 in the Atlantic Coast Conference last season. Aysia Bugg led the way for the Panthers at 14.0 points per game while Danielle Garven averaged 11.8. Cara Judkins averaged a team-high 5.6 rebounds per game.
Butler was 23-10 and 11-7 in the BIG EAST last season. The Bulldogs made it to the third round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, beating Northeastern and Kent State before falling to Cincinnati. Whitney Jennings led the way for Butler with 15.5 points per game last season.
The Bobcats are coming off an historic 30-win season. Ohio returns the MAC Freshman and Sixth Player of the Year (Erica Johnson), the MAC Defensive Player of the Year (Cece Hooks) and three All-MAC winners (Johnson, Hooks and Amani Burke). Ohio advanced to the round of eight of the Women's National Invitation Tournament last season.
Ohio will start the season on Saturday, Nov. 2 with an exhibition against Walsh. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. inside the Convocation Center. The Bobcats open the regular season at Syracuse on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Syracuse.
