#HoopsFest16 is Coming to Athens

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio Athletics will host #HoopsFest16 to tip-off the 2016-17 men’s and women’s basketball seasons.

The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5, in conjunction with Dad’s Weekend at Ohio. One ticket provides admission to the full day of games.

Ohio women’s basketball will battle 2016 NCAA Division III National Champion Thomas More at 11:30 a.m. ET in the Convocation Center. Immediately following, Ohio men’s basketball will host local foe and traditional NAIA power Rio Grande at 2 p.m. ET.

Pregame Tailgating
Pepsi Tailgreat Park will open at 7 a.m. ET, and fans are encouraged to host pregame tailgates akin to an Ohio football Saturday. Parking in Pepsi Tailgreat Park will be complimentary for all fans through noon ET. After that, parking will be free for those with an Ohio Bobcat Club season pass and just $5 for the general public. Parking will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Groups and organizations can arrange for a tent in Pepsi Tailgreat Park by calling 800-575-2287. Inflatable games and activities will also be set-up in the park, weather permitting.

In-Game Activities
Convocation Center gates open at 10:30 a.m. ET. Prior to both games, there will be free face painting and a balloon artist inside the main entrance of the Convo.

Between the games, there will be a ring ceremony and banner unveiling to honor Ohio women’s basketball’s 2016 Mid-American Conference regular season championship.

The entire Marching 110 will be in attendance for the day. Halftime of the men’s basketball game will be highlighted with a Marching 110 floor show, featuring the full band on the court.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be available to meet with fans and sign autographs on the main concourse after their games.

Volleyball Senior Night
Following #HoopsFest16, fans are encouraged to stick around for Ohio volleyball's match against MAC East Division rival Bowling Green at 7 p.m. ET. Admission is free with a basketball ticket, and will feature a pregame Senior Night ceremony.
