ATHENS, Ohio– Ohio Women's Golf junior Emily Hughes was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, for her performance at the 2018 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, the league announced today.
Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) finished as the individual champion for the Ohio women's golf team at the 2018 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, hosted by Bowling Green at the 5,829-yard golf course at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio, last weekend. Her first-place finish marked her first individual title as a Bobcat and helped Ohio finish in third place.
Hughes opened the competition by tallying a 77 (+5) on Saturday (April 7), then came back on Sunday (April 8) and shot a career-low 67 (-5). She wrapped up the two-round tournament with an overall score of 144 (E).
Hughes' second-round score of 67 tied her for the second-lowest single round score in program history. Her 36-hole total marked the lowest two-round total of her career and tied her for the fourth-lowest 36-hole total in program history.
The Bobcats are back in action April 20-23 at the 2018 MAC Championships hosted by Northern Ill. at the Naperville Country Club.
