DADE CITY, Fla. – The Ohio women's golf team finished play at the 2019 Spring Break Shootout hosted by Western Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast, on Tuesday (March 12) at the 6,056- yard Lake Jovita Golf Club. The Bobcats finished the tournament in 13thplace after shooting a final round of 306, giving them a two-day total of 911 (+59).
FGCU was named the team champion after defeating WKU on a fifth-player tie breaker.
Leading Ohio was senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) who finished Tuesday with a 72, giving her a two-day total of 223 (+10), tying her for 35thplace. Freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) finished the tournament tied for 48thplace after shooting a third round of 78, giving her a two-day total of 227 (+14).
Junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) finished the tournament tied for 51stafter shooting a 74 on Tuesday, giving her a tournament total of 228 (+15).
Senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio) finished tied for 68thplace after finishing the morning with an 82, helping her finish +21 with a three-round total of 234. Rounding out the scoring Bobcats was senior Chloe McKinzie (Medina, Ohio) who finished tied for 83rdafter finishing Tuesday with an 82, giving her a two-day total of 244 (+31).
Playing unattached for Ohio was freshman Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio) who finished tied for 60thplace after finishing Tuesday with a 75, giving her a two-day total of 233 (+20).
Up next, the Bobcats head to Richmond, Ky., March 29-30 for the 2019 Lady Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky at the Arlington Golf Course.
