ATHENS, Ohio– The Ohio women's golf team retursn to action this weekend for their final tournament before the Mid-American Conference Tournament when they head to Bowling Green, Ohio to compete in the 2019 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. The event, hosted by Bowling Green State University, will take place April 6-7 at the 5,829-yard Stone Ridge Golf Club.
This event is a 36 Hole Event with par set at 72. Saturday's round of 18 is set to begin with an 9 a.m. shotgun start and Sunday's round of 18 is set to start with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Fans will be able to access live scoring here.
Competing at this year's event is, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Chicago State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Illinois-Chicago, Oakland, Ohio, and Western Michigan.
Competing for Ohio in this year's event are seniors Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio), Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio), junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.), freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) and freshman Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio). Competing individually for Ohio are seniors Chloe McKinzie (Medina, Ohio) and Hannah Travis (Lancaster, Ohio) and sophomores Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) and Amanda Hayes (Dayton, Ohio).
This season, Smiley leads Ohio, sustaining a 76.36 stroke average and finishing as Ohio's top-finisher in the last five tournaments. Her most recent 2019 Lady Colonel Classic second-place finish recorded her lowest round at 69 and best finish of the season and was named the MAC Golfer of the week for her efforts. Her stroke average places her fourth in the MAC. Hughes, registering as Ohio's top finisher in two tournaments this season has also been a strong performer for the Bobcats with a 76.5 stroke average, securing fifth overall in the MAC.
Up next, the Bobcats head to Noblesville, Ind., April 19-21 for the 2019 Mid-American Conference Tournament hosted by Central Michigan at the Purgatory Golf Club.
