Ohio Women's Golf Wraps Up Day One at 2019 MAC Championships

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – The Ohio women's golf team opened play at the 2019 Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by Central Michigan at the Purgatory Golf Club on Friday (April 19). The Bobcats wrapped up the first round in fifth place after registering a first round scored of 321 (+33). 

Toledo leads the pack after the first round of play after registering a first-round total of 303 (+15). 

Senior Emily Hughes (Columbus, Ohio), fresh off an individual victory at the 2019 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, leads the Bobcats after the first round of action. Hughes wrapped up Friday with a 78, placing her tied for 9th place at six-over. 

Junior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) finished the first round tied for 17th place after shooting a day-one score of 79 (+7). 

Next, senior Nicole Smiley (Dublin, Ohio) and freshman Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) both concluded the first round with an 82, finishing the day 10-over and tied for 29th place. 

Rounding out the competing Bobcats is was freshman Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio), who finished tied for 45th place after shooting a first-round score of 85 (+13). 

The Bobcats are back in action for the second round of the 2019 MAC Championships on Saturday (April 20). Tee-times will begin at 9 a.m. ET.
