Ohio Women’s Golf Wraps Up Day One of 2019 Fall Preview

Day One Results

SILVER LAKE, Ohio– The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up the first day of the 2019 Fall Preview hosted by Akron at the 6,177-yard Silver Lake Country Club on Monday (Oct. 7). The Bobcats finished day one in seventh place after opening the day with a 329, before coming back to shoot a second-round score of 318, giving them a day one total of 647 (+71).

Akron finished the first day at the top of the leaderboard with a day-one total of 627 (+51). 

Leading Ohio is sophomore Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) who sits tied for sixth place after the first day of competition. Loftus opened the day with a 78, before wrapping up the day with a second-round score of 76, giving her a two-day total of 154 (+10). 

Freshman Maria Howard (Dublin, Ohio) sits tied for 32nd place after the first day of the tournament. Howard opened the day with an 82, before finishing Monday with an 81, giving her a day-one total of 163 (+19). 

Junior Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio) both finished Monday tied for 41st place. Flynn opened the tournament with an 83 in the morning round, before wrapping up the day with an 84, giving her a two-round total of 167 (+23). Porvasnik recorded a first round score of 86, before coming back later in the day to shoot an 81, giving her a day-one score of 167 (+23). 

Rounding out the scoring Bobcats is freshman Avery Ovens (Wiloughby Hills, Ohio) who sits tied for 44th place after day one. Ovens opened the tournament with an 88, before coming back to shoot an 80 in the second round, giving her a two-round total of 168 (+24). 

Competing unattached for the Bobcats is redshirt freshman Mallory Lovell (Georgetown, Ky.) who sits tied for 26th place after opening the day with an 83, before coming back to shoot a second-round score of 78, giving her a two-round total of 161 (+17). 

Also competing unattached for Ohio is senior Marissa Balish (Allison Park, Pa.) who finished the day tied for 47th place after recorded a first round score of 83, before wrapping up the tournament with an 86, giving her a day-one total of 169 (+25). 

Freshman Domitille Chambon (Rochester Hills, Mich.) also competed unattached for Ohio, finishing the day tied for 58th place after opening the day with a 90, before coming back to shoot a second-round score of 85, giving her a day-one total of 175 (+31).  Rounding out all the competing Bobcats is junior Amanda Hayes (Dayton, Ohio) who finished the day in 64th place. Hayes opened the day with a 103, before shooting a 91 to give her a day-one score of 194 (+50). 

The Bobcats wrap up the 2019 Fall Preview on Tuesday, Oct. 8 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
