ATHENS, Ohio - Six home duals and four regular season tournaments highlight the upcoming 2017-18 Ohio wrestling schedule as released on Wednesday by head coach Joel Greenlee, who enters his 21st season at the helm of the Bobcats program.
Ohio opens the 2017-18 season at the Southeast Open Nov. 5 in Roanoke, Va.
The Bobcats then head to the Bearcat Open Nov. 12 and the Navy Classic Nov. 18 before participating in Ohio's first Mid-American Conference dual against Buffalo Nov. 5.
Ohio hosts its first dual with Appalachian State Dec. 2 in Athens, Ohio then travels to Columbia, Mo. to battle with Mizzou on Dec. 10 followed by competition with Chattanooga on Dec. 18.
The Bobcats wrap up the 2017 calendar at the Midlands Classic Dec. 29-30 in Chicago, Ill.
Ohio opens 2018 hosting familiar MAC-foe Eastern Michigan on Jan. 5 then the Bobcats will travel to Central Michigan for a dual on Jan. 7. Ohio will continue competition on the road with a dual against Duke on Jan. 14
The Bobcats will return home for four consecutive matches in Athens, Ohio hosting Kent State Jan. 19, Northern Illinois Jan. 21, Gardner Webb Feb. 4 and Old Dominion Feb. 11.
Ohio then travels to American on Feb. 17 in Washington D.C. before making its way down to College Park, Md. to compete with Maryland on Feb. 18 to wrap up the regular season.
The MAC Championship will be held March 3-4 in Mt. Pleasant, Mo. at Northern Iowa. The NCAA Championships will be held in Cleveland March 15-17.
Ohio sent three qualifiers to the NCAA Championships last season including sophomore Shakur Laney (Canal Winchester, Ohio), redshirt junior Noah Forrider (Marysville, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Zack Parker (Felton, Del.).
