Brereton Named Associate Head Coach

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio Women's soccer has announced the promotion of Debs Brereton to the position of associate head coach, head coach Aaron Rodgers announced today.

"I'm very grateful for this opportunity that Aaron and the administration have given me," Brereton said. "It's a privilege to work with such a brilliant group of student-athletes, and be a part of the Bobcat family. I appreciate how hard Aaron has worked over the years to create a culture of excellence, and I am looking forward to continuing to work relentlessly alongside him with our fantastic group of young women to win a MAC Championship together."

Brereton, who holds a US Soccer A license and a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, is entering her third season on the Ohio women's soccer coaching staff. In her first two seasons the Bobcats have a record come away with seven conference wins and are coming off of a 4-5-2 conference record, the best since 2011. The Bobcats also have 12 victories overall in her time at Ohio. During this time Ohio has scored 50 goals for an average of 1.32 goals per game.

"I am very happy to be able to promote Debs to the position of Associate Head Coach," Rodgers said. "The impact that Debs has made on our program took immediate effect when she arrived almost two years ago. She shares the same values as a coach that I do and has helped improve our training environment, our commitment to excellence on and off the field and the overall experience each student athlete is able to have."

On August 20, 2017, Brereton helped lead Ohio to a 1-0 win over the Butler Bulldogs. Butler finished the season 13-2-6. In this same season, Ohio made it to the conference tournament for the first time since 2013.

"The student athletes have in Debs a mentor who not only cares about them as people but as student athletes," Rodgers said. "She holds the highest-level coaching certifications that shows she is always working to improve herself as a coach and mentor. I look forward to continuing to work closely with her and striving towards a MAC championship."
